All our watches are produced at limited quantities, maximum 500 of each model. What does Limited Edition actually mean?
Every watch has unique serial number, that looks like 085/500. Where 085 means that it's 85th watch of 500 watches of this model that will be ever produced on Earth.
We don't produce all 500 watches at the same time, we do it by batches of 50-100 items. If we see high demand on this model, we will produce next batch, unless we will produce all the 500.
If we don't experience high demand on particular model, we freeze production of this model, until we receive more requests on this model. So some models can be produced in smaller than 500 quantities. There are some models, that are limited to 50 items of initial batch.
When we update existing model, we stop production of existing one and start production of new one. For example, model Tilbake BC11 (only 50 watches produced) has screw down crown, but following feedback we have changed it to push-pull and started new model holding index “B” (BC11B).
If we reach 500 items limit for particular model, we stop production of this model. We never re-use serial numbers! So if the model is marked as “sold out”, this means that this model is not available and will never be produced again. Maybe in future we will produce SIMILAR model, but it will be different anyway, and will have different model name and serials.
When we are about to launch new model, one of our retail partners Svalbard.one starts taking pre-orders with discounted price. For some models (like SA18 and TA18) all the 500 watches of each model were sold out by pre-orders and so those models were never available for general sale. Please note that this may happen to other models and be sure you make a pre-order of the watch you interested in.
As we sell our limited watches across the globe, there's almost zero chance that you'll ever meet someone with the same watch as yours. That's why when you buy Svalbard watch, you get truly unique and unusual watch.
