All our watches are produced in limited quantities, with a maximum of 500 for each model. What does this Limited Edition actually mean?
Every watch has a unique serial number, that looks like 085/500. Where 085 means that it's the 85th watch of 500 watches of this model, and no more will be ever produced.
We don't produce all 500 watches at the same time, we do it in batches of 50 to 100 items and if we see a high demand for this model, we will produce the next batch, and so on until we produce all of the 500.
If we don't experience a high demand for a particular model, we freeze production of this model, until we receive more requests for it. So, some models may be produced in quantities smaller than 500. There are some models that are limited to the 50 items of the initial batch.
When we update an existing model, we stop production of the existing one and start production of the new one. For example, model Tilbake BC11 (only 50 watches produced) had a screw down crown, but following feedback, we changed it to a push-pull and started a new model series BC11B.
If we reach the 500 items limit for a particular model, we stop production of this model. We never re-use serial numbers! So, if the model is marked as sold out, this means that this model is not available, and will never be produced again. Maybe in the future we will produce a SIMILAR model, but it will be different in some way and will have a different model name and serial number sequence.
When we are about to launch a new model, one of our retail partners, Svalbard.one starts taking pre-orders with a discounted price. For some models (like the SA18 and TA18) all the 500 watches of each model were sold out at the pre-order stage, and so those models were never available for general sale. Please note that this may happen to other models, so, be sure you pre-order any watch that you are interested in.
As we sell our limited watches across the globe, there's almost zero chance that you'll ever meet someone with the same watch as yours. That's why when you buy a Svalbard watch, you get a truly unique and unusual watch.
Don’t worry, there’s no such thing as a stupid question.
